On Monday, Laura and I took Cole to see his Cardiologist, Dr. Bensky. Everything is looking great according to the Doc - color, size, etc.
His current weight is 11 lbs, 11 ozs. Dr. Bensky commented that he has gained approximately 1 pound per week since he has been at home which has put us on the "fast track" to his second surgery. Initially, we were told that his second surgery would be when Cole was 6-8 months old and the new estimates are that he could be ready as soon as the end of April. This is good news for Cole because it means that he is growing and getting stronger more quickly then they had thought and the bigger and stronger he is, the better he can handle the second surgery and recovery. However, it is not as good for Mommy and Daddy who are still paying hospital bills from "surgery uno."
At this rate, we should have most of the bills paid by the time he enters college. Cole is like Texas....everything is bigger in Texas....his size, his hospital bills, his eating, and his "unusually large phallic." We are now considering ammending his current nickname, "Hoss," into "Hoss Texas Ranger." Any and all feedback appreciated.

This is Sam. Laura's big sis. I have only met baby Cole by pics. My girls say he is defenetly a Griffin do to his size. I'm so glade that Cole is doing so well you guys are in every prayer.Keep up the good work and tell Ava an Cole that we love them and we will met soon.
He is HANDSOME!!! Whew, you two will have to watch out for this kid as he grows up.
I love the nickname "Hoss, Texas Ranger" LOL, it seems very fitting. I also love YOU GUYS! Give big hugs to eachother and your two lovely kids for me.

Ramona - I am glad you guys like the nickname. I miss seeing you guys and our days in SF. You can tell Mike that Ava has a passion to play the drums...ala Mike in the rental car on the dashboard. We will look out for Cole as he gets older, but my biggest worry is Ava. She is going to be beautiful - just means I have to keep my .45 locked and loaded. God Bless!
Hey you guys, it's Anne H. Cole is beautiful,(in a baby boy way, of course). I've been keeping up with the blogs, and I just have to agree that God is faithful in every way. I know you're praising Him for His wonderful works, even down to the 46,000/day poopy diapers!
I love you all, and I'm still thinking of you and praying for you all as a family. And Matt, thank goodness you haven't lost your sense of humor!

Hey, this is Terri Korner. We met you guys out at Papas & Nanas ranch. What a great 'Lil Hoss' that you have been blessed with. God certianly has terrific plans for him and you guys. No matter what comes our way, we can always trust that it has God's loving stamp of approval on it because He LOVES his kids. It just grates on Satans nerves when he throws discouragement at us and it just slides off us when we lift our eyes to our Father rather than to our circumstances. So we continue to pray for excellent healing in Cole and strength for all. (**)
